Privacy Policy

1. Who This Applies To

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data L2 Pearl collects through l2pearl.com and its dashboard, and how it is used. L2 Pearl is an independent, fan-operated Lineage II private server and is not affiliated with NCSoft. This policy covers only data collected by L2 Pearl itself — it does not cover NCSoft's services.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account data: username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text) when you register.
  • Game account data: game logins and characters you create or link from the dashboard, and gameplay statistics (level, PvP/PK counts, clan, rankings) used to power the site's stats and leaderboard pages.
  • Security data: the IP address used at registration and login, kept to detect abuse, fraud, and cheating.
  • Session data: a session cookie and a corresponding token stored in your browser's local storage, used only to keep you signed in.
  • Donation records: that a donation was made, its amount, and the in-game reward it unlocked. Card and payment details are handled entirely by our payment processor (PayPal) — we never see or store your full payment information.
  • Analytics: aggregated, anonymized traffic and usage statistics via Google Analytics (page views, general location, device type), used to understand how the site is used. See Google's own privacy policy for how they process this data.

3. Why We Collect It

We use this data to create and secure your account, operate the game server and dashboard, process donations and grant the correct in-game rewards, prevent cheating and abuse, send account-related emails (such as email verification), and understand overall site usage so we can improve it. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who We Share It With

We share the minimum necessary data with the third-party services that make L2 Pearl work: our payment processor (PayPal) for donations, and Google Analytics for aggregated traffic statistics. We do not otherwise sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.

5. Data Retention & Security

We keep account data for as long as your account exists, and take reasonable technical measures (password hashing, encrypted transport) to protect it. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe.

6. Your Rights

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or request that your account and associated data be deleted, by contacting us through the official L2 Pearl Discord server. We will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children

L2 Pearl is not directed at children below the age required by the laws of their country to use online services without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the project evolves. Material changes will be announced through our Discord server or the site's News section.
